Watercolors II

The Friends of the Fallbrook Library are once again pleased to celebrate talented regional artists in two new art exhibitions, in the Community Room and Mixed Metal Sculpture on the Reading Patio.

Open from January 6 to February 28, a special afternoon reception will be held on Saturday, January 11, from 2 to 4pm. Come meet the artists and enjoy music and light refreshments.

Bringing her mixed metal wire and plate sculpture from San Diego, Mary Lou Owen shows that skill, imagination and creativity can make exceptional shapes emerge from basic materials.  Her 9 graceful pieces on the patio delight the eye and defy gravity. Each mixes a variety of metals fused together to create interesting sculptural pieces.

In the Community Room, eleven award winning Watercolor painters convey their passion with amazingly beautiful paintings in a variety of styles. Penny Fedorchak, co-curator for this show, says “watercolor has always been my medium of choice. I love the way the watercolor flows on paper, how the colors blend. I love to watch the pigment take on a life of its own”.

Watercolor can be applied transparently or opaquely making it a very versatile medium. The art in this show demonstrates the ways this paint can be magical.  Almost universally, Carilyn Vice, Robin Erickson, Janice Cipriani Willis, Robert Willis, Sarah Meisenholder, Eileen Pace, r mike nichols, Helen Shafer Garcia, Diane Adams, Phee Sherline and Penny Fedorchak agree that watercolor excites them. They love the way the colors overlap, blend and have a special vibrancy. Each painter feels the flow of watercolor on paper is extraordinary. The paintings on display certainly show their love for the medium.

The Fallbrook Library is located at 124 S. Mission Road.
